¹ Now brethren, I do not wish you° to be ignorant concerning the spiritual gifts.

² You° know that when you° were Gentiles, you° were being led away to the voiceless idols, how you° would be led away now. {i.e., ...led away now (tricked) by false spiritual gifts.}

³ Hence I make known to you°, No one speaking in the Spirit of God says, Jesus is accursed, and no one is able to say, Jesus is Lord, except in the Holy Spirit.

⁴ Now there are diversities of gifts$, but the same Spirit.

⁵ And there are diversities of services and the same Lord.

⁶ And there are diversities of workings, but it is the same God, the one working all things in all.

⁷ But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for what is advantageous:

⁸ for$ to one the word of wisdom is given through the Spirit, and the word of knowledge to another according-to the same Spirit;

⁹ but miraculous faith to a different one in the same Spirit; but gifts$ of healings to another in the same Spirit;

¹⁰ but workings of miracles to another; and prophecy to another; but the discernings of spirits to another; varieties of languages to a different one; and the translation {and/or interpretation} of foreign languages to another;

¹¹ but the one and the same Spirit is working all these things, sectioning off to each one in his own way just-as he wills.

¹² For$ just-as the body is one and has many members and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.

¹³ For$ also, we were all immersed$ into one body, in one Spirit, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bondservants or free men, and all were made to drink into one Spirit.

¹⁴ For$ the body is also not one member, but many.

¹⁵ If the foot says, I am not a hand, I am not from the body, contrary to this, is it not from the body?

¹⁶ And if the ear says, I am not an eye, I am not from the body, contrary to this, is it not from the body?

¹⁷ If the whole body were an eye, where is the hearing? If the whole body were hearing, where is the sense of smell?

¹⁸ But now God himself placed the members in the body, each one of them, just-as he willed.

¹⁹ Now if all things were one member, where is the body?

²⁰ But now they are indeed many members, but one body.

²¹ Now the eye is not able to say to the hand, I have no need of you, or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you°.

²² But much rather now, the members of the body which seem to be$ weaker are necessary;

²³ and which parts of the body we think to be more dishonored, we place even-more honor around these, and our indecent parts have even-more decency;

²⁴ but our decent parts have no need. But God mingled the body together, and gave even-more honor to the ones which are lacking,

²⁵ in-order-that no splits should be in the body, but in-order-that the members should have the same anxiety on behalf of one another.

²⁶ And if one member is suffering, all the members are suffering together-with it. If one member is glorified, all the members are rejoicing together-with it.

²⁷ Now you° are the body of Christ and members individually.

²⁸ And indeed God placed some in the congregation$ of believers: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, thereafter miracles, thereafter gifts$ of healings, helps, those who pilot others, those with varieties of languages.

²⁹ All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All do not do miracles, do they?

³⁰ All do not have gifts$ of healings, do they? All do not speak with foreign languages, do they? All do not translate, do they?

³¹ But be° zealous for the better gifts$. And I will show to you° according-to still a surpassingly-better way.
