G1653- to feel sympathy with the misery of another, esp. such sympathy as manifests itself in act, less freq. in word G3628- denotes the inward feeling of compassion which abides in the heart. A criminal begs ἐλεέω G1653 of his judge; but hopeless suffering is often the object of οἰκτιρμός G3628.
