1 Corinthians 12
1 Now brethren, I do not wish you* to be ignorant concerning spiritual gifts. 2 You* know that when you* were Gentiles, you* were being led away to those voiceless idols, as you* would be led now. 3 Hence I make known to you*, that no one speaking in the Spirit of God says, Jesus is accursed, and no one is able to say, Jesus is Lord, except in the Holy Spirit.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts*, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are diversities of services and the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of workings, but it is the same God, who is working all things in all. 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for what is advantageous: 8 for* the word of wisdom is given to one through the Spirit, and the word of knowledge to another according to the same Spirit; 9 and miraculous faith to different one in the same Spirit; and gifts* of healing to another in the same Spirit; 10 and workings of miracles to another; and prophecy to another; and the discernings of spirits to another; varieties of languages to a different one; and the translation of foreign languages to another; 11 but the one and the same Spirit is working all these things, sectioning off to each one in his own way just-as he wills. 12 For* just-as the body is one and has many members and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body; so also is the Christ. 13 For* also, we were all immersed* into one body, in one Spirit, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bondservants or free men, and all were made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For* the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot says, Because I am not the hand, I am not from the body; contrary to this, is it not from the body? 16 And if the ear says, Because I am not the eye, I am not from the body; contrary to this, is it not from the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where is the hearing? If the whole body were hearing, where is the sense of smell? 18 But now God himself placed the members in the body, each one of them, just-as he willed. 19 Now if they were all one member, where is the body? 20 But now they are indeed many members, but one body. 21 Now the eye is not able to say to the hand, I have no need of you; or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you*. 22 But much rather now, those members of the body that seem to be* weaker are necessary; 23 and those things of the body which we think to be more dishonored, we place even-more honor upon these, and our indecent parts have even-more decency; 24 but our decent parts have no need. But God mingled the body together, having given even-more honor to the ones which are lacking; 25 in order that no splits should be in the body, but in order that the members should have the same anxiety on behalf of one another. 26 And if one member is suffering, all the members are suffering together with it. If one member is glorified, all the members are rejoicing together with it. 27 Now you* are the body of Christ and members individually. 28 And indeed God placed some in the congregation* of believers, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, thereafter miracles, thereafter gifts* of healing, helps, those who pilot others, those with varieties of languages. 29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts* of healing, do they? All do not speak with foreign languages, do they? All do not translate, do they? 31 But be* zealous for the better gifts*. And I will show to you* still a surpassingly-better way.
