Modern Literal Version
[Matthew 11]

     11:1 And it happened when Jesus had completed commanding his twelve disciples, he proceeded from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

     {Mat 11:2-30 & Luk 7:18-35 Galilee.}

     11:2 Now when* John heard the works of the Christ while in prison, he sent two of his disciples11:3 and said to him, Are you the one who is coming, or should we expect a different one?

     11:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, When* youĎ travel back, reportĎ to John what youĎ hear and see: 11:5 the blind recover their sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the poor have the good-news proclaimed to them. 11:6And whoever is notoffended at me is fortunate.

     11:7 Now while* these disciples are traveling on, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John,What did youĎ come out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 11:8But what did youĎgo out to see? A man who has been dressed-up in soft garments? Behold, those who are wearing softgarments are in royal houses. 11:9But why did youĎ go out? To see a prophet? I say to youĎ, Yes, and one who is more-than a prophet. 11:10For* this is he, concerning whom it has been written, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will be preparing your way before you.'{Mal 3:1}11:11Assuredly I am saying to youĎ, A greater man has not arisen among those born from women thanJohn the Immerser*. But he who is least in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he. 11:12But from the days of John the Immerser* until now the kingdom of the heavens suffers-violently and theviolent ones seize it. 11:13For* all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 11:14And if youĎ are willing to accept it, this is Elijah, who is the one about to come. 11:15He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

     11:16But to what shall be similar to this generation? It is similar to children sitting in the marketplaces and shouting to their comrades 11:17and saying, We piped to youĎ and youĎ did not dance. We mourned for youĎ and yet youĎ did not grieve for yourselves. 11:18For* John came neither eating nor drinking and they say, He has a demon. 11:19The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they say, Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners! And wisdom was made righteous from her children.

     11:20 Then he began to reproach the cities in which most of his miracles had happened, because they did not repent. 11:21Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! Because if the miracles had happened in Tyre and Sidon which have happened in youĎ, they would have repented long-ago in sackcloth and ashes. 11:22However I say to youĎ, It will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in theday of judgment than for youĎ. 11:23And you, Capernaum, who has been exalted to heaven, you will be stepping down to Hades, because if the miracles had happened in Sodom which have happened in you, it would have remained till today. 11:24However I say to youĎ, that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.

     11:25 Jesus answered and said at that time, I profess you, O Father, Lord of heaven and the earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. 11:26Yes, Father, because thus it became a delight before you.11:27All things have been given to me by my Father and no one fully knows the Son, except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father fully, except the Son and he to whomever the Son wills to reveal him.11:28Come-hereĎ to me, all youĎ who labor and have been loaded down, and I will be giving-rest to youĎ. 11:29TakeĎ my yoke upon youĎ and learnĎfrom me, because I am meek and humble in heart and youĎ will be finding rest for yourĎ souls. 11:30For* my yoke is easy and my load is light.
