Modern Literal Version
[Luke 21]

     {Mar 12:41-44 & Luk 21:1-4 In the Temple Treasury, Tues.}

     21:1 Now he looked up and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. 21:2 But he also saw a certain poor widow casting two bronze-coins in there. 21:3 And he said, Truly I say to youĎ, This poor widow cast in more-than they all.21:4For* all these cast into the gifts of God out of what is abounding to them, but she cast in out of her lacking, all the livelihood that she had.

     {Luk 21:5-24 & Mat 24:1-28 & Mar 13:1-23 Destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. See also: Luk 19:41-44 & Luk 23:28-31.}

     21:5 And while* some are speaking about the temple, how it has been adorned with beautiful stones and votive-offerings, he said, 21:6As for these things which youĎ are viewing, the days will be coming in which one stone will not be left here upon another stone, that will not be torn-down.

     21:7 Now they asked him, saying, Therefore teacher, when will these things be? And what will be the sign whenever these things are about to happen?

     21:8 And he said, BewareĎ, doĎ not be misled; for* many will be coming in my name, saying, I am he, and, The time has drawn near. YouĎ therefore, doĎ not travel after them.21:9But whenever youĎhear of wars and unrest, doĎ not be terrified; for* it is necessary for these things to happen first, but the end is not immediately here.

     21:10 Then he said to them, Nation will arise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; 21:11and there will be great earthquakes in different places and famines and plagues. There will be both terrors and great signs from heaven.21:12But before all these things, they will be putting their hands upon youĎ and will be persecuting youĎ, giving youĎ up to the synagogues and prisons, leading youĎ in front of kings and governors because of my name.21:13But it will be transpiring into a testimony for youĎ.21:14Therefore place it into yourĎ hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to make adefense. 21:15For* I will be giving youĎ a mouth and wisdom, which all who lay in opposition to youĎ will not be able to stand against, nor to speak against.21:16But youĎwill be given up even by parents and relatives and friends, and brethren, and they will be slayingsome out of youĎ.21:17And youĎ will be hated by all men because of my name. 21:18And a hair out of yourĎ head may never* perish.21:19YouĎ will procureĎ yourĎ souls in yourĎ endurance.

     21:20But whenever youĎ behold Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, then knowĎ that her desolation has drawn near.21:21Then those who are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of her, let them vacate, and those who are in the region, do not let them enter in it.21:22Because these are days of vengeance, that all things which have been written may be fulfilled.21:23But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing in those days! For* a great calamity will be upon the land, and wrath among this people. 21:24And they will be falling by the edge of the sword and will be captured into all the nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles should be fulfilled.

     {Luk 21:25-28 & Mat 24:27, 24:29-31 & Mar 13:24-37 & Acts 1:11 & 1Th 4:13-17 & 2Th 1:7-9 & 1Co 15:51-15:58 & Rev 1:7 Second Coming.}

     21:25And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and dismay of nations upon the earth, in perplexity from the noisy sea and the noisy billows; 21:26menpassing-out from fear and expectation of the things which are coming upon the inhabited-earth; for* the powers of the heavens will be shaken.21:27And then they will be seeing the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and much glory. 21:28But when* these things are beginning to happen, stand-erectĎ and liftĎup yourĎ heads, because yourĎ redemption is drawing near.

     {Luk 21:29-33 & Mat 24:32-35 & Mar 13:28-31 Destruction of Jerusalem AD 70.}

     21:29 And he spoke to them a parable: BeholdĎ the fig tree and all the trees.21:30Whenever they already cast forth leaves, youĎ know from looking at them yourselves that the summer is already near. 21:31So also youĎ, whenever youĎ beholdĎ these things happening, knowĎ that the kingdom of God is near.21:32 Assuredly I am saying to youĎ, This generation may never* pass away, until all things should happen. 21:33The heaven and the earth will pass away, but my words may never*pass away.

     {Luk 21:34-36 & Mat 24:36-44 & Mar 13:32-37 Second Coming.}

     21:34But take-heedĎ to yourselves, lest yourĎ hearts might be burdened in a hangover and drunkenness, and anxieties of everyday life, and that day might suddenly stand upon youĎ; 21:35for* it will be coming like a snare upon all those sitting upon the face of all the earth. 21:36Therefore, watchĎ in every season, beseeching, in order that youĎ might be deemed worthy to flee away from all the things which are about to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.

     {Mar 11:19-26 & Mat 21:20-22 & Luk 21:37-38 Road from Bethany to Jerusalem Tues.}

     21:37 Now every day, he was teaching in the temple, and every night he went out and was camping in the mountain, being called Olives.

     {Mat 24:45-51 & Luk 21:37.}

     21:38 And all the people were coming at daybreak to hear him in the temple.
