Modern Literal Version
[John 14]

     {Joh 14:1-17:26 Thur. Night, Fri. to the Jews; no parallel.}

     14:1Do not let yourĎ heart be disturbed; youĎ believe in God, believeĎ also in me.14:2In my Father's house are many abodes; otherwise, I would have told youĎ. I am traveling on to prepare a place for youĎ.14:3And if I travel on, I will be preparing a place for youĎ. I am coming again and will be receiving youĎ to myself; in order that where I am, youĎ may also be there.14:4And I am going where youĎ know and youĎ know the way.

     14:5 Thomas says to him, Lord, we do not know where you are going; how are we able to know the way?

     14:6 Jesus says to him, I am the way and the truth and the life; no one is coming to the Father, except through me. 14:7If youĎ had known me, youĎ would have also known my Father; from now on youĎ know him and have seen him.

     14:8 Philip says to him, Lord, show us the Father and it is enough for us.

     14:9 Jesus says to him, So-much time I have been with youĎ and you have not known me Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. And how can you say this? Show us the Father.14:10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I say to youĎ, I do not speak from myself, but the Father who is abiding in me; he is doing the works.14:11Either believeĎ me, that I am in the Father and the Father in me, otherwise believeĎ me because of the works themselves.14:12Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to youĎ, He who believes in me, the works which I am doing, he will also be doing, and he will be doing greater works than these, because I am traveling on to my Father. 14:13And if youĎ ask anything in my name, I will do this, in order that the Father might be glorified in the Son.14:14If youĎ ask anything in myname, I will do that.14:15If youĎ love* me, keepĎ my commandments.

     14:16And I will be requesting of the Father and he will be giving youĎ another Helper*, in order that he may abide with youĎ forever, 14:17the Spirit of the truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not view him, nor knows him, but youĎ know him, because he is abiding with youĎ and will be in youĎ. 14:18I will not be leaving youĎ orphans. I am coming to youĎ. 14:19Still a little while and the world views me no more, but youĎ view me, because I am living, youĎwill also be living. 14:20 YouĎ will know in that day that I am in my Father and youĎ in me and I in youĎ. 14:21He who holds my commandments and is keeping them, that one is he who loves* me and he who loves* me will be loved* by my Father and I will love* him and will be manifesting myself to him.

     14:22 Judas (not Iscariot) says to him, Lord, what has happened that you are about to manifest yourself to us and not to the world?

     14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves* me, he will be keeping my word and my Father will love* him, and we will be coming to him and we will be making* our abode with him. 14:24He who does not love* me, is not keeping my words.

     And the word which youĎ hear is not mine, but the Father's, he who sent me.

     14:25I have spoken these things to youĎ, while remaining with youĎ.14:26But the Helper*, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will be sending in my name, that one will be teaching youĎ all things and will be reminding youĎ of all things which I said to youĎ.14:27I am leaving peace with youĎ. I am giving my peace to youĎ; not like the world gives, I am giving to youĎ. Let yourĎ heart not be disturbed, nor let it be cowardly.14:28YouĎ heard that I said to youĎ, I am traveling on and I am coming to youĎ. If youĎ loved* me, youĎ would have rejoiced, because I said, I am traveling on to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. 14:29And now I have spoken this to youĎ beforeit is to happen, in order that, whenever it should happen, youĎ may believe. 14:30I will not be speaking much anymore with youĎ, for* the ruler of the world is coming and he has nothing in me; 14:31but in order that the world may know that I love* the Father and just-as the Father commanded me, thus I am doing.

     AriseĎ, we should go from here.
