Modern Literal Version
2 Peter 1]

1:1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who are allotted an equally precious faith with us, in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 1:2 may grace and peace be multiplied to youĎ in the full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

1:3 As his divine* power has been bestowed to us as a gift, (all things pertaining to life and godliness*), through the full knowledge of the one who called us through glory and virtue; 1:4through which he has bestowed to us as a gift, his precious and greatest promises; in order that youĎ might become partners of the divine* nature through these things, having fled away from the corruption in the world among its lust.

1:5 Now also for this same thing, besides having entered in all diligence, supplyĎ in yourĎ faith, virtue, and in yourĎ virtue, knowledge 1:6 and in yourĎ knowledge, self-control, and in yourĎ self-control, endurance, and in yourĎ endurance, godliness*; 1:7 and in yourĎ godliness*, brotherly-love, and in yourĎ brotherly-love, love*. 1:8 For*if these things are existing and increasing in youĎ, nonewill designate youĎ idle or unfruitful toward the full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:9 For*the one is blind in whom these things are not present*, being short-sighted, having taken on himself the forgetfulness of {i.e. deliberately forgot} the cleansing from his old sins.

1:10 Hence brethren, beĎ more diligent to make* yourĎ calling and choice steadfast; for*, youĎmay never* trip someday while practicing these things; 1:11 for* so the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied to youĎ.

1:12 Hence, I will habitually not be neglecting to remind youĎ concerning these things, although youĎ know them and are established in the present* truth. 1:13 But I am deeming it righteous, inasmuch as I am in this tabernacle, to arouse youĎ with a reminder; 1:14 knowing that the removal of my tabernacle is coming quickly, just-as our Lord Jesus Christ indicated to me. 1:15 But I will also be diligent, each-time, to have youĎ in remembrance of these things, to practice them after my exodus. 1:16 For* we did not follow wisely devised fables, when we made known to youĎ the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but in that, we became eyewitnesses of that majesty. 1:17 For* having received honor and glory from God the Father, when* such a voice was carried to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am delighted. 1:18 And we heard this voice, having been carried from heaven, being together with him in the holy mountain. 1:19 And we have the steadfast prophetic word, (as to a lamp appearing in a dreary place, until the day should dawn and the {F} morning-star might rise), to which youĎ are doing well, and taking-heed in yourĎ hearts. 1:20 Knowing this first, that every prophecy of Scripture does not come* from one's own interpretation. 1:21 For* no prophecy was ever brought about bythe will of man, but the holy men of God spoke the word being carried by the Holy Spirit.
