Modern Literal Version
[1 Thessalonians 4]

     4:1 Therefore furthermore brethren, we request and are encouraging youĎ in the Lord Jesus, just-as youĎ received from us how youĎ ought to walk and to please God, in order that youĎ might abound even more. 4:2 For* youĎ know what commands we gave youĎ through the Lord Jesus. 4:3For* this is the will of God, yourĎ holiness, for youĎ to abstain from fornication; 4:4for each of youĎ to know how to procure his own vessel in holiness and honor, 4:5 not in the passion of lust, just-as also the Gentiles who do not know God, 4:6and not to go beyond limits and takes-advantage of his brother in the matter, because the Lord is an avenger concerning all these things, just-as we have also spoken to youĎ beforehand and thoroughly testified. 4:7 For* God did not call us in uncleanness, but in holiness. 4:8 Therefore, the one who is rejecting this is not rejecting man, but God, who also gives his Holy Spirit to youĎ.

     4:9 Now concerning brotherly-love, youĎ have no need for someone to write to youĎ; for* youĎyourselves are taught by God, *that* youĎ should love* one another; 4:10 for* youĎ are also practicing it toward all the brethren who are in the whole of Macedonia. But brethren, we encourage youĎ, that youĎ abound even more, 4:11 and that youĎ make it your aim to be living quietlives and to do yourĎ own things, and to work with yourĎ own hands (just-as we commanded youĎ), 4:12 in order that youĎ may walk decently toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

    {1Th 4:13-17, 2Th 1:7-10}

     4:13 But brethren, we do not wish youĎ to be ignorant concerning those who have fallen-asleep; in order that youĎ may not be sorrowful like the rest who have no hope. 4:14 For* if we believe that Jesus died and rose* up again, so those who have fallen-asleep through Jesus, God will also be bringing* together with him. 4:15 For* this we are saying to youĎ in the word of the Lord, that we, the living, who are leaving at the presence of the Lord, may never* attain heaven before those who have fallen-asleep. 4:16 Because the Lord himself will be coming down from heaven, in a commanding yell, in the voice of the archangel and at the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be rising* up first; 4:17 thereafter we, the living, who are leaving, will be taken away at the same time together with them in the clouds, to the encounter of the Lord in the air, and so we will always be together with the Lord. 4:18 So-then, encourageĎ one another in these words.
