Modern Literal Version

[1 Peter 5]

     5:1 I am encouraging the elders the ones among youĎ, (the fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of the Christ, also the partner of the glory which is about to be revealed). 5:2 ShepherdĎthe flock of God among youĎ, exercising the oversight, not by compulsion, but willfully, nor covetously, but eagerly; 5:3 nor like one lording it over his inheritances {Or: lots}, but by becoming examples to the flock. 5:4 And when* the Chief-Shepherd is made manifest, youĎ will be getting the unfading crown of glory.

     5:5 Likewise, the younger ones, beĎ subject to the elder ones. But all of youĎ be subject to one another, clotheĎ yourselves with humility, because 'God resists the haughty, but is giving grace tothe humble.' {Prov. 3:34}5:6 Therefore humbleĎ yourselves under the powerful hand of God, in order that he may exalt youĎ in time; 5:7 having tossed forth all yourĎ anxiety upon him, because there is care concerning youĎ with him. 5:8 BeĎ sober! WatchĎ! YourĎ opponent, the devil, like a roaring lion, is walking around seeking whom he may swallow, 5:9 to whom, standĎ against, solid in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are to be completed in the world by yourĎbrotherhood. 5:10 But the God of all grace, who called youĎ to his everlasting glory in Christ Jesus, when* youĎ have suffered a small time, he himself may frame youĎup, will establish, will strengthen and will found youĎ. 5:11 The glory and the dominion is to him, forevermore. Amen.

     5:12 Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I count him, I have written to youĎ a few words, encouraging and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which youĎ are standing. 5:13 Shewho is in Babylon, chosen together with youĎ, and my son Mark greets youĎ. 5:14 GreetĎ one another with a kiss of love*.

     Peace to all of youĎ who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

     {NOTES: Please read the Preface and other non-bible sections. * is our universal footnoting for words contained in the 'Definitions' section. These words are NOT the same Greek word as the non-asterisk form; i.e. *FOR is different from FOR* is different from FOR.}
